BSA/NRA Rifle and Shotgun Certified Instructor Training-Scoutmasters and Qualified Youth

Calling all Scoutmasters/Qualified Youth- for BSA/NRA Rifle and Shotgun Certified Instructor training April 6th-8th, 2018

Camp Buck Toms/Rockwood Tennessee

Who can attend: Any 21-year old or older that would like to become an NRA Certified Rifle/Shogun Instructor & teach scouts the FirstStep/Merit Badges classes.

Any youth staff member at summer camp age 15 to 17 can become an NRA apprentice instructor or an 18-year-old to 20-year-old that wants to become an NRA assistant instructor.



NRA membership & certifications for 2years. (You must pass a written open book test).

$195.00 includes all teaching materials,

Registration Types.

NON NRA member both courses:
$125 + $70 for registration & certifications NON NRA member one course:
$125 + $60 for registration & certification Registered NRA certified member:
$125 + $50 for 2-course certifications Registered NRA certified member:
$125 + $40 for 1-course certification

Plus $10 for meals.

Additional requirement upon certification: Volunteer assisting with the Great Smoky Mountain Council for shooting sports activities when available.

 Registration: February 1st to March 16th, 2018. Please sign up as soon as possible for us to order the appropriate materials for these courses.

Schedule: FridayCheck in 6:00-7:00pm Sharp.

7:00pm NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT).

SaturdayNRA Rifle Instructor Training 12hrs (includes pre- qualifications).

SundayNRA Shotgun Instructor Training 8hrs (includes pre- qualifications).

Food and Lodging: Lodging will be at Camp Buck Toms, Campsite #3 bring your outdoor camping necessities for the weather conditions. This will be a two-night campout. Food will be provided at $10 per person.  If you have dietary restrictions you will need to bring your own food, etc. for the weekend (1-meal Friday evening (Cracker-barrel); (3 meals) Saturday and (2) meals Sunday.

The course goal of this training is to develop NRA Certified Rifle and Shotgun Instructors who possess the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, conducting and instructing safe shooting activities. This is a BSA National requirement for all BSA Shooting Sports. You must be 21 years of age to take this course, or a youth summer camp staff 15-17yr old (Apprentice Instructor), and an 18-20yr old for (Assistant Instructor).
