You must be 21 years of age to take this course.
What to bring items: No firearms or ammunition. Bring a sack lunch & beverages, (there is a beverage
and snack machine on premise), proper comfortable attire, depending on the weather. Parts of this course
will be in an outdoor environment. Pen/Pencil, notebook and a happy learning attitude. Also bring proper
eye and hearing protection.
All registrations and fees must be submitted before: December 7th, 2021 (in order to acquire the necessary course materials).

This is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for Range Safety Officers. In response the NRA develop the Basic Range Safety Officer Course in 1998 to satisfy the need to have trained persons to oversee and conduct safe range operations without necessarily being NRA Certified Instructors or Coaches. Successful completion of the course will result in NRA Range Safety Officer Certification.
This course teaches the basic duties a Range Safety Officer performs. It provides a through introduction to: The role of Range Safety Officers (RSOs), range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), range safety briefings, range inspection and rules, emergency procedures and how to clear firearm stoppages and correct malfunctions. The skill acquired in this course require regular practice which should initially take place under the supervision of a qualified individual-such as a NRA Chief Range Safety Officer.
The course goal of this training is to develop NRA Certified Range Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, conducting and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. You must be 21 years of age to take this course.
Minimum length of this course is 9 hours and consist of seven lessons which are the following.
1. Introduction to the NRA Basic Range Safety Officers Course.2. The Role of the Range Safety Officer and Range Standard Operating Procedures.
3. Range Inspections and Range Rules.
4. Range Safety Briefing.
5. Emergency Procedures.
6. Firearm Stoppages and Malfunctions.
7. Test and Review (you must pass with a score of 90 to be certified).
