Lodge Adviser

  1. Appointed annually by the Scout executive.

    1. Serves as a member of the council camping committee.  Attends all meetings of that council committee and knows from chapter reports which units need camping promotion and training.

    2. If elected, serves as a member of the council executive board.

    3. Attends all lodge functions.

    4. Attends appropriate council, section, regional, and national OA functions.

  2. Understands the policies and principles of the OA and ensures their adherence within the lodge.

  3. Serves as the principal adviser to the lodge chief.

    1. Advises and assists the lodge chief in establishing goals and objectives, including attainment of Performance Measurement Program recognition.

    2. Assists the lodge officers in getting the job done by providing them with tools, opportunities, and necessary transportation.

    3. Advises and assists the lodge chief in the delegation of authority for the conduct of the lodge program so that it is efficiently and effectively shared with the other lodge officers and committee chairs.

  4. Ensures that the lodge chief conducts regular meetings of the lodge executive committee meetings.

    1. Advises and assists the lodge chief in producing effective agendas for these meetings.

    2. Promotes attendance of appointed adult advisers.

    3. Encourages work among officers and committee chairs prior to these meetings.

  1. In consultation with the lodge chief and staff adviser Appoints an adult adviser to work with each lodge officer and committee chair.

    1. Encourages adult lodge committee advisers to attend the meetings of the lodge operating committee related to their assignments.

    2. Helps every adult Arrowman in the lodge to be a functioning adviser, either as a unit leader or an adult adviser to a lodge or chapter committee or project.

  1. Maintains constant and regular contact with the lodge staff adviser.

    1. Coordinates dates for all lodge events with the staff adviser.

    2. Coordinates service projects for all lodge events with the staff adviser.

    3. With the staff adviser, ensures proper management of all lodge funds.

  2. Ensures the lodge charter renewal application is completed and submitted on time.

Sets the example for youth and adult Arrowmen by correctly wearing the Scout uniform.
