The Great Smoky Mountain Council proudly operates two premier long-term camping properties, each offering its own unique experience for Scouts and leaders.

Camp Buck Toms sits along the shores of Watts Bar Lake near Rockwood, Tennessee, nestled in a beautiful hardwood forest. As our flagship summer camp, Buck Toms delivers an unforgettable experience with robust merit badge programs and high-adventure opportunities. Program areas include Aquatics, COPE & Climbing, Field Sports, Handicraft, Scoutcraft, STEM, First-Year Camper, Mountain Adventure, and Mountain Biking. Scouts stay in classic Adirondack-style campsites that keep them close to the heart of the outdoors.

Camp Pellissippi, located on Norris Lake near Andersonville, Tennessee, offers a scenic escape alongside the Cumberland Mountains and the Clinch River watershed. Short-term camping (three nights or fewer) is available in log cabin-style bunkhouses or Adirondack shelters. Pellissippi also serves as the home base for Winding Waters Adventures—the camp’s signature high-adventure program. These treks offer unmatched outdoor experiences for units, including:

  • Mountain Bike Madness: 30+ miles of professionally designed trails through rugged mountain terrain

  • Trek Tennessee: Backpacking expeditions in the Smokies and Cumberland Plateau

  • River Runner: Paddling adventures on pristine rivers and lakes

  • Appalachian Adventure: A flagship trek featuring a mix of mountain, lake, and trail-based challenges
