GOAL SETTING & TIME MANAGEMENT – 1ST HOUR

Finding a successful time management strategy depends on a person’s personality, ability to self-motivate and level of self-discipline. This course introduces established methods for improving a Venturer’s ability to effectively manage the events in his or her life in relation to time. This course is required for the Discovery Award and will take place over 2 hours with a 15-minute break.

CANOEING WITH THE NORTHERN TIER

There is no better place to learn canoeing tips & tricks than from the Northern Tier staff. In the summer, Scouts from Northern Tier’s three wilderness canoe bases explore millions of acres of pristine lakes, meandering rivers, dense forests and wetlands in Northern Minnesota, Northwest Ontario and Northeast Manitoba. This session is live from Boundary Waters at the Northern Tier.

You and your crew are on a backpacking trip when out of nowhere a thunderstrom rolls up…..Can you escape this scenario? This event is limited to 10 participants between 14 & 20 years of age. Sign up and we will email you the link the day before.

ARCHERY AT THE SUMMIT

You’ve never seen archery quite like this! The Summit features traditional training with bows, but Scouts and Venturers are able to try something that is typically not experienced at other Scout Camps – sporting arrows and crossbows. Live from the Bows at the Summit Bechtel Reserve.

Have you always dreamed of being a marine biologist, oceanographer, conservationist, or a deep-sea explorer? This is the session for you. Live from the Florida Sea Base you will hear about their Marine STEM program, the Brinton Environmental Center, and the MOTE Marine Laboratory.

Follow in the footsteps of 18th century fur traders as you paddle the pristine Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota and Canada. This session is being conducted live by Northern Tier staff that will be in Minnesota and Canada.
VENTURING/SEA SCOUTING & THE OA

Who would be better to lead this session than Andrea Penrose? She has been a Regional VOA Vice President and she is the first female Order of the Arrow Section Chief. You won’t want to miss this session.
INTRO TO LEADERSHIP

An introduction into techniques useful for leaders in any organization or unit. Topics include how to run a meeting, tips on public speaking, delegation, and time management. A Q&A will be held near the end, where participants will be encouraged to inquire about event planning, leadership skills, or any questions on topics covered during the session.
MENTORING
3:00 – 3:45PM
Mentoring is a form of leadership and can be performed in a variety of circumstances throughout the Venturing program. This training is designed to help Venturers understand how to mentor other members of the crew and appreciate the role mentoring plays in a personal growth and leadership for both the mentee and mentor. This course is required for the Summit Award.
BACKPACKING

Being able to carry everything you need on your back opens up many more opportunities to explore the great outdoors. But, do you really need to carry that? This session will go from introduction-level to ultra-lightweight ideas.
ORDER OF THE ARROW MEETUP
