Distinguished Citizen Dinner

Join us February 16, 2023 at 6pm at the Knoxville Convention Center as we honor Joan Cronan as the 2023 Great Smoky Mountain Council’s Distinguished Citizen.

Joan is a proven leader, with her success being measured through both personal and professional accomplishments. She has served in numerous leadership roles, including Leadership Knoxville founding class and past president, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics president, SEC Executive Committee, the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Board, Carson-Newman College Board of Trustees, and many additional roles. Joan’s list of accomplishments is impressive and includes the inaugural recipient of the NCAA Pat Summitt award, YWCA Lifetime Achievement Award, Women’sBasketball Hall of Fame, and most recently, the Michael L. Slive Distinguished Service Award. She has been inducted as a member to nine different Halls of Fame for her many accomplishments. A graduate of Louisiana State University with an honorary doctorate from the United States Sports Academy, Joan currently serves as University of Tennessee Athletics Director Emeritus.
