Lodge History
Pellissippi Lodge 230 is a local lodge of the Order of the Arrow (OA), the honor society of the Boy Scouts of America, serving the Great Smoky Mountain Council in Tennessee. The lodge’s name, “Pellissippi,” is derived from the Native American word for the Tennessee River, honoring the cultural heritage of the region.
Pellissippi Lodge was chartered in 1950, originally formed as a part of the council’s efforts to promote leadership and service within the Scouting program. Like many OA lodges, Pellissippi Lodge has focused on promoting the principles of brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service through a variety of programs, including camp work projects, fellowship events, and induction ceremonies for new members.
Over the years, Pellissippi Lodge has grown into an active and respected part of the Great Smoky Mountain Council, hosting numerous events such as ordeals, conclaves, and NOAC delegations. The lodge also participates in community service projects and provides leadership training for its members.
