2023 Women of Achievement Awards Dinner

Elise Massey of the Collier Restaurant Group and Chair of the Great Smoky Mountain Council’s Women of Achievement Committee invites you to join us November 30 at The Foundry as we celebrate women across the East Tennessee area and their significant contributions to our community. We’re pleased to announce that Donde Plowman will serve as the keynote speaker and host of this inaugural event honoring Liz Stowers, Tamsin Miller, and Hadassah Hall.

Liz Stowers is being recognized as our Community Leader. Mrs. Stowers has been deeply involved in supporting the East Tennessee community in many different areas. Her leadership in the arts has been especially impactful, most notably with the recent effort to rebuild the Carousel Theater on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Liz serves on the board of a number of area nonprofits, including Leadership Knoxville, Alliance for a Better Nonprofit, and Helen Ross McNabb.

Tamsin Miller is our Scouting volunteer honoree. Tamsin has dedicated nearly 40 years in support of Scouting, perhaps best known for her long-standing work as the Director of the Roane State Merit Badge University. Over the history of the 36-year long event, Tamsin and her volunteer staff have instructed over 18,000 merit badges to the Scouts of East Tennessee. In her professional role, Tamsin serves as the Special Assistant to the President at Roane State Community College, where she coordinates all major protocol events for the college. In addition, she manages special projects for the college, which includes continuous renovations of the colleges nine campuses and new building projects.

Hadassah Hall joined Scouts BSA in 2019 and earned her Eagle Scout in 2022. In high school, she served as an officer of the Student Council and the National Honor Society. She graduated in May 2023 as the valedictorian of her class and was a recipient of the Lawrence and Mabel S. Cooke National Eagle Scout Association Scholarship. She is now studying Nuclear Engineering as a freshman at the University of Tennessee. Hadassah has recently been elected as the incoming lodge chief of the Pellissippi Lodge of the Order of the Arrow.

If you would like to honor a female in your organization, there are a variety of sponsorship opportunities or tributes available. Contact April.McMillan@scouting.org for more details.
