Scouting Experience

Eagle Scout from Troop 618 in Longview, TX, served on staff at Camp George W. Pirtle as a youth, completed a trek at Philmont in 1985, and a Vigil honor member of the Order of the Arrow.

John became a professional Scouter in 2013 in the Unaka District, promoted to the Toqua District, and served as the Staff Advisor for High Adventure Camp, Wood Badge, and the Bruce Atkins Invitational Golf Tournament. He was promoted to Field Director and eventually to Director of Field Service in the Last Frontier Council, OKC, where he also served as Staff Advisor to the popcorn sale. John rejoins the Great Smoky Mountain Council as the Director of Field Service.
