Education: Bachelor’s in microbiology and Ph.D. in Materials Science Engineering

Hobbies/Interests: outdoors, traveling, reading, hanging out at the lake, and spending time with her family.

Scouting Experience

Committee member for Venturing Crew 46 and Ship 46.

She is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow; has received the Silver Beaver Award; is a James E. West fellow; and has received the council, Area, and National Venturing Leadership Awards. She is a past co-Chair for the National STEM Nova Committee. She has served as the Advisor to the inaugural Philmont STEM trek; as faculty at the Philmont Training Center, the Florida Sea Base, and the Summit Bechtel Reserve. Additionally, April has staffed National and World Jamborees; VenturingFest; Winterfest; and SEAL. She is Sea Badge trained. She has served on multiple Wood Badge staffs in GSMC, Crossroads of America Council, and as SPL for the inaugural national Linked Troop Wood Badge course. April has also served as Course Director for GSMC’s Powder Horn. April has enjoyed learning as much as she can through additional training courses, including Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness Survival, and First Aid.
