An in-depth look at the opportunities available at the crown jewel of BSA’s national high adventure bases. Find out why so many call it Heave On Earth and what is IWTGBTP!  This session is being conducted live by Philmont staff that will be in New Mexico.

You were found worthy by the members of your unit.  You have taken your first step.  Find out what’s out there in the OA before you are just a sash & dash!

CANOEING WITH THE NORTHERN TIER

10:00 – 10:45AM

There is no better place to learn canoeing tips & tricks than from the Northern Tier staff.  In the summer, Scouts from Northern Tier’s three wilderness canoe bases explore millions of acres of pristine lakes, meandering rivers, dense forests and wetlands in Northern Minnesota, Northwest Ontario and Northeast Manitoba.  This session is live from Boundary Waters at the Northern Tier.

2021 NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE

Find out how you can ‘Face the Challenge’ with 25,000 Scouts and 5,000 volunteers at the Boy Scouts of America’s next quadrennial National Scout Jamboree.

LIVE FROM THE FLORIDA SEA BASE

The BSA’s very own island getaway.  The Florida Sea Base offers a wide range of aquatic adventures and is leading the way in some incredible restoration projects just offshore.  This session is being conducted live by Sea Base staff that will be in the Florida Keys.

ARCHERY AT THE SUMMIT

You’ve never seen archery quite like this! The Summit features traditional training with bows, but Scouts and Venturers are able to try something that is typically not experienced at other Scout Camps – sporting arrows and crossbows.  Live from The Bows at the Summit Bechtel Reserve.

MEET THE PHIMONT BURROS

11:00 – 11:30AM

If you love animals, this is your you!  If you have heard stories about the Philmont burros and wondered what the buzz is all about, this is for you.  If you want to see the scenic mountains of Philmont, don’t miss this session.

LIVE FROM THE SUMMIT BECHTEL RESERVE

The newest of the BSA’s high adventure bases and the home of the National Scout Jamboree, the Summit now offers treks and a variety of other adventures.  This session is being conducted live by Summit staff that will be in West Virginia.

MARINE STEM & CORAL RESTORATION

Have you always dreamed of being a marine biologist, oceanographer, conservationist, or a deep-sea explorer?  This is the session for you.  Live from the Florida Sea Base you will hear about their Marine STEM program, the Brinton Environmental Center, and the MOTE Marine Laboratory.  

LIVE FROM THE NORTHERN TIER

Follow in the footsteps of 18th century fur traders as you paddle the pristine Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota and Canada.  This session is being conducted live by Northern Tier staff that will be in Minnesota and Canada.

LEARN TO YO-YO WITH THE BEST

3:00 – 3:45PM

Experts from Duncan will show you how to string a yo-yo, how to tie the right kind of slip knot, and how to throw a yo-yo.  They will also give you some recommendations for yo-yo and teach you a few tricks.

INTRO TO LEADERSHIP

3:00 – 3:45PM

An introduction into techniques useful for leaders in any organization or unit.  Topics include how to run a meeting, tips on public speaking, delegation and time management.  A Q&A will be held near the end, where participants will be encourage to inquire about event planning, leadership skills, or any questions on topics covered during the session.  

AMERICAN INDIAN ACTIVITIES

See some of the best Arrowmen and friends dance, drum and sing.  If your interest has ever been peeked by AIA, now is the time to check it out. 

BACKPACKING

4:00 – 4:45PM

Being able to carry everything you need on your back opens up many more opportunities to explore the great outdoors.  But, do you really neeed to carry that?  This session will go from introduction-level to ultra-lightweight ideas.

NATIONAL OA CHIEF

4:00 – 4:45PM

Hear an overall update of the OA’s program and what just happened!  Meet Zach Schonfeld and what led him to where he is today.  You will also have the chance to ask questions.  

PATCH TRADING 101

4:00 – 4:45PM

Learn the rules and etiquette of one of the BSA’s favorite past times – patch trading!  You will also hear about the early flaps and patches of the Pellissippi Lodge.

ORDER OF THE ARROW MEETUP
